172 Who's Eligible for Contemplation?

Contemplation, I believe is the highest form of meditation. My question, is it to advance for me? Al Kohallek asked his sponsor, Lou-is Pazeniton what one has to do to be eligible for contemplation, Lou-is tells him as far as he knows any human being. I believe that contemplation in principle like our AA Program, we only have to have a desire to experience. Contemplation is a good Eleven Step meditation for me. It is simple I just set in a comfortable position and close my eyes and say yes to my Higher Power’s Presence and yes to His Action or His Will being done. It is His responsibility to do the rest. When thoughts or feelings, good or bad show up I just gently say the one word I have chosen, Father, to symbolize my intent, not to focus my attention. I remember the old railroad crossing sign, Stop, Look and Listen. STOP; meaning that we stop dwelling on the useless chatter. LOOK; meaning to look for the Presence and Action of my Higher Power. LISTEN; meaning to listen for His Holy Voice. I want to learn how to communicate in His first language, silence. What makes me eligible? I have an honest desire, willingness and I am doing it. I practice at least two times a day, for 20 minutes. After all, I am just trying to stay out-of-the-way, letting the Boss do the works.

Random Awakening

Al Kohallek asked his sponsor if he heard about the nine ever-day elements of love. Lou-is replied, when I came into the Program so many members of our group were reading a book written a longtime ago. The title was The Greatest Thing in the World, by Henry Drummond (1851 – 1897). He listed what many believed to be the greatest thing or good. In his judgment like Paul’s in 1 Corinthians 13 was love. I will share a little of my experience for each one of these elements of love for I believe our Program is a way of life and that life is love.
