251 A Cup of Wakeup Coffee

251 A Cup of Wakeup Coffee

I have thought often in the last few days about a wise statement someone made in a meeting: "I would like to have the same intense desire for God in the morning as I do for my wakeup cup of coffee." These are the words I think was said, may be a little off but I love the idea. I remember a mystic telling how this point was made for him. His master held his head under water until he was close to death, then his master or teacher told him when he wanted God as much as he wanted to breathe he would get "it". That is easy to understand, but not as important to me as the hunger and thirst for the first cup of coffee as a burning desire for God. Before I open my eyes upon awaking I center my consciousness on the Presence of our Father. Through the day I turn to our Father, but not with the passion or hunger or thirst for something physical. I have had that passion for some worldly thing to the point of overriding all else. I am in the habit of spending sometime each morning in my prep work; prayer, meditation, reading and writing, but as a rule not with the passion I believed this person shared. I shall ask our Father for that passion throughout the day to carry out His Will. Thy Love be done.

Random Awakening

I started off the year with a meeting. Before it was over I was confronted with and old weakness. I find it easy to communicate with my home group. When I am at other groups I hold back the depth of love, gratitude and perhaps the wisdom given to me to share.
