SURFSIDE SERENITY GROUP
In an effort to provide a more convenient meeting place
for AA tourists and residents in and around Mexico Beach,
Florida, a new AA group was formed in February, 1988. The
Surfside Serenity Group of AA was founded by Jim H.
The
pastor of the First United Methodist Church on 22nd street
in Mexico Beach gave permission for this new group to meet
in that church's facilities every Thursday evening at 7:30
pm, Central Time. The group continues to meet at this same
location.
Early
members of the Surfside Serenity Group included Jim H.,
Steve, Frank, Carolyn, and Ralph. Present membership remains
at five.
Meetings
of the Surfside Serenity Group generally are closed meetings
except when a newcomer or tourist brings a non-AA person.
At those times the group votes to open the meeting, thus
opening their arms of welcome.
