A worldwide movement, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) is an organization comprised of recovered
alcoholics who help others free themselves from their entanglement with liquor.

In Anderson, the AA ranks have  mushroomed  during  the  past five years. "We cannot estimate the
amount of alcoholics there may  be in Anderson and Madison County, but there are new faces at
nearly every meeting," said one recovered alcoholic.

Local AA participants conduct open meetings where citizens may attend and closed meetings for
alcoholics only.

Below is a schedule of "open'' AA meetings: Monday, 7:30 p.m. at the Christian Center and 8 p. m.
at Community Hospital; Tuesday, 10 a.m., Community Hospital and 8 p.m. at St. John's Hospital; and
